SUSTAINABILITY AT TUESDAY & CO.

At Tuesday and Co. we are passionate about creating beautiful pieces that are not only functional and practical but also contribute to a sustainable future.

MATERIALS

When I embarked on my journey creating Tuesday and Co., I had a strong vision for the morals / values of the brand, therefore I sought materials that aligned with my vision for sustainability.  Jesmonite, crafted from natural minerals and water-based acrylics, offered a versatile and eco-friendly option, while polymer clay provided LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT AND ZERO WASTE OPTION.

THE STUDIO

To reduce my environmental impact further, my studio is powered by a biomass boiler. The boiler runs from wood chippings provided by waste wood from a neighbouring joinery workshop, this eco-friendly energy source significantly minimizes carbon emissions and provides a further resource to reduce and reuse waste.

ZERO WASTE

Embracing sustainability required revaluating my production processes and fostering a zero-wastage policy. Every piece of jesmonite and polymer clay mattered, and I make sure to maximize their use. By designing efficient workflows and repurposing any excess materials or flawed creations, I reduced waste significantly. Waste Jesmonite is repurposed into the chips seen in the Terrazzo pieces, meaning that no material ever goes to waste. Polymer clay scraps are remixed into new colours and then reused in new designs.

OUR PACKAGING

Plastic-free alternatives are an essential part of Tuesday and Co. Recycled paper, cardboard, and biodegradable materials are used whenever possible. Often we use cardboard repurposed from a neighbouring joinery workshop to package our jewellery, so if your package looks a little ‘rough and ready’ it’s because it has been reused in order to reduce reliance on ‘new’ packaging!
