CARING FOR POLYMER CLAY

ABOUT POLYMER CLAY

Much of the jewellery at Tuesday & Co. is made from Polymer Clay. Polymer clay is a type of modelling clay made from a blend of plastic resin, pigments, and fillers. It is a pliable material that becomes permanently hardened when baked at a low temperature. Originally developed for industrial purposes, polymer clay has found its way into the realm of art and jewelry making due to its remarkable properties.

It can be made into any shape, pattern or colour you can think of - the options are endless which is why I love it so much for making jewellery!

All of the jewellery at Tuesday & Co. is handmade at our rural studio. The process begins with conditioning the clay, which involves kneading and manipulating it to achieve a smooth and malleable consistency. Once conditioned, the clay is shaped, textured, and embellished with various techniques such as sculpting, stamping, and mixing colours. The final step involves baking the clay at a low temperature to cure and harden it, resulting in a durable and wearable jewellery piece.
